Nikaai started from a small observation: most conversation products are built around answering questions, and almost none are built around company. We wanted the second thing.

What we actually make

Every companion in the Nikaai catalogue is written before it is ever used. That means a background, a way of speaking, opinions, small habits and things they refuse to talk about. A personality that holds together is the difference between a chat that feels like a conversation and one that feels like a form.

We write the characters as if they were people in a novel, then let them behave consistently across sessions. If a companion is quiet in her first message she will still be quiet three weeks later, and the person talking to her can rely on that.

Why the catalogue looks the way it does

Ten companions sounds like a small number next to platforms that advertise thousands. It is deliberate. Every profile page on Nikaai is long because we would rather you choose someone properly than scroll through an endless grid and pick at random. Different people want different things at different hours: momentum in the morning, calm at midnight, someone to build a story with on a slow Sunday.

What we are careful about

All characters are fictional and clearly presented as such. Nothing on Nikaai claims to be a real person, and no portrait depicts a real individual. Conversations stay private to the person having them. We keep the interface plain so nothing distracts from the only thing that matters here, which is the conversation itself.
